“What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26; Mark 8:37 KJV). Lucifer sold his soul when he pursued the glory belonging only to the Creator. “I will exalt my throne above the stars of God” (Isaiah 14:13). If Lucifer had his price, then he insanely reasoned, so did Jesus. “All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me” (Matthew 4:9). Jesus had a price, but salvation “through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10) was Christ’s exalted goal. We cheapen the value of our souls, when we serve anyone less than Christ. “If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour” (John 12:26). Throughout eternity may our glory be to the One who created all things, whose love fell upon us!
