Babies Not Born Selfish

They say babies are born selfish, caring only for themselves. I don’t think so. Babies are only more in touch with their physical senses and learn tactile feedback in gratifying their senses. As image bearers of God, they must develop the understanding of not gratifying their senses more than the needs and desires of others. Because the Great Creator has designed babies to respond to the evidence of His presence and priority, for that is “clearly seen” (Romans 1:20 KJV), they must be carefully taught by example and word to “treat others as you would want them to treat you” (Matthew 7:12 NET). If not properly taught righteousness, they will become “slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents, senseless, covenant-breakers, heartless, ruthless. Although they fully know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:30-32 NET). Any wonder people behave badly in public?
