Accentuate the Positive

Traffic slows on the freeway when there is an accident on the opposite side of the median strip —  going the other direction! Why? Lookie-Lous [“Hey, look at that accident, Lou!”] even momentarily paying attention to someone else’s problem, cause snarled freeway traffic for a mile. Hard not to do it! News agencies say, “If it bleeds, it leads,” not just the tabloids next to the checkout aisles at the grocery store. The public views stories about sensationalism, and viewers attract advertising dollars readily. “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2 KJV). Lofty sentiment, but it takes a True Believer to make it work. Our job is to set the example for the world to follow, not simply to follow the world. If no one listens, then that’s the Holy Spirit’s problem. Only God can work that in anyone. LORD, make us the “light of the world. A city that is set on an hill” (Matthew 5:14) to give Your Spirit the opportunity needed to bring people into a right relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, work that in us and them, we pray. Amen.

Age of Polarization

“In an age of polarization, when the darkness is purging itself of its grayness to become wholly dark, the light must, likewise, purge itself of its own grayness to become wholly light. If the darkness is to become darker, the lights must shine all the more bright.” The Josiah Manifesto: The Ancient Mystery & Guide for the End Times by Jonathan Cahn. A wholehearted separation unto the LORD will become more manifest in our lives, when our consecration is more than superficial. “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up” (Matthew 4:16 KJV).

Light of the World

Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid” (Matthew 5:14 KJV). People will react differently to the light. Some will “see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 KJV), while others “loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19 KJV). As part of the Restraining Force of good over evil, the Holy Spirit exerts that influence through His children. Jesus also claimed, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12; 9:5 KJV). Let us shine God’s light in dark places, attempting to do good, and not further blinding the world with just harsh light in their eyes. Pray for love to accompany the light!
