Jesus does not look at us as a disposable planet filled with disposable people. “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 KJV). This is an incredible statement. Only genuine love can talk like that, but only God Almighty can deliver it to everyone, not just to the church goers. He has handed us a supernatural solution. “Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:29-30 KJV). But, can we receive it?
Supernatural
Thy Kingdom Come
In our Lord’s prayer model for disciples, He instructs us to pray, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10 KJV). Both as the kingdom of God forming in human hearts and praying for the fulfillment of Bible prophecy for His soon return to earth, Jesus considers this the primary need for His children. He instructs us our conduct on earth should imitate heaven, which also supernaturally gives us insight on what is going on in the heavenlies.
Praying for the Fulfillment of Prophecy
In Scripture, where can we see the necessity of praying for the fulfillment of prophecy? In the Babylonian Captivity, Daniel interceded for Israel to be allowed to return after 70 years (Daniel 9:2-3), just as promised by Jehovah (Jeremiah 29:10). If prophecy will be fulfilled because God promised it, why do we still need to pray? “I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them” (Ezekiel 36:36-37 KJV). In spiritual warfare, prayer is commanded, but it most importantly draws us to God, as well as extends His supernatural influence in this world. May Thy kingdom come, and Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Amen.
Casting Out Demons
Plain Christians can cast out Satan from their presence by simply resisting him (James 4:7) and his temptations. One of the “signs [that] shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils” (Mark 16:17 KJV); but, be warned, in supernatural warfare, sometimes “this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29 KJV). LORD, prepare Thy people for overcoming the Wicked One. Amen and amen.
Resisting the Devil
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7 KJV). Anyone submitted to God can make Satan flee from them by simply and firmly resisting his temptation to do wrong or not do right. He will flee because he knows he cannot defeat the LORD God Almighty to whom you are humbly submitted under the shadow of His wings. Never resist the Devil alone, in your own name, for we are as nothing against this supernatural godlike enemy, but through our God, we shall do valiantly! Amen.
Can We Do Better?
We can absolutely do better, or we cannot grow. “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10 KJV). Until we stand in the presence of our Lord, we will be constrained by the limitations of our earthly circumstances. We will ache, become weary, mishear, misunderstand, and even miss our intended target. We certainly need a supernatural, good shepherd. LORD, lead us in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Amen and amen.
Walking With God
Man has a history of walking with God. Adam and Eve “heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8 KJV). The Voice was the Pre-Incarnate Christ, the Son of God, the Eternal Logos who was made flesh, walking in the garden with our parents. God seems to enjoy walking with man, too, for Enoch “walked with God” (5:22), until he apparently walked Home, “for God took him” (5:24). Some describe the Rapture as an Enoch Walk. Noah “walked with God” (6:9) and was chosen to rescue the world from the plague of the Nephilim. Abraham walked with the LORD, whom he trusted. “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness” (Romans 4:3 KJV). Moses walked with I AM and gave us understanding of how to live, “for the law was given by Moses” (John 1:17 KJV). The apostles walked with the Lord Jesus Christ. “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1John 1:1-3 KJV). May we be counted among those who walk with God!
Fighting Exhausted
Soldiers fighting exhausted against an unrelenting enemy. What are we to do? Quit? Many of Jesus’ disciples quit following Him because He pressed upon them the strange language of eating His flesh and drinking His blood (John 6:53) in order to have eternal life. Natural language would mean cannibalism, but supernatural language would mean receiving Jesus into ourselves, where He becomes part of us. “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?” (6:67). Peter’s reply to Jesus voices our reply as well. “Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life” (6:68). In other words, How can we quit, if there is no other path to Heaven? To quit would mean to let go of eternal life. That seems to be the nature of verses like: “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matthew 24:13 KJV). May we continue to treat our lives as if we are living a supernatural religion — because we are — and we all shall meet one day in that happier place. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4 KJV). Amen and amen.
Only Those Who Abide in Obedience Have a Right to Claim They Know Him
Only those who abide in obedience have a right to claim they know Him. “And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him” (1John 2:3-4). If human nature was naturally sinful, then how could anyone rightly claim to walk in obedience? A naturally sinful nature is only an excuse for sinning, not a good explanation. “Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth [Greek, hamartanei, sins or is sinning, present tense] hath not seen Him, neither known Him” (1John 3:6 KJV). Whoever is abiding in Christ is not sinning. Whoever is not abiding in Christ is sinning. Whoever is sinning is supernaturally assured in the most forceful language, that person “hath not seen Him, neither known Him” (3:6). God supernaturally chooses not to be known by us, when we are presently sinning. That withholds assurance of salvation from us, while we are in rebellion against Him. The language of the First Epistle of John requires the Holy Spirit to supernaturally teach, interpret, and understand. “But the anointing [Holy Spirit] which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him” (1John 2:27 KJV). May Christ bless all the disciples of His supernatural religion! “If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love” (John 15:10 KJV).
God Never Requires Us to Do the Impossible
God never requires us to do the impossible. He measures our love by our obedience. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous [burdensome]” (1John 5:3 KJV). God is not an uncaring taskmaster. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15 KJV). The very idea of the Son of God coming in human flesh was to provide us an example of walking without sinning that we should “follow His steps” (1Peter 2:21 KJV). Jesus is beckoning us to get out of the boat and follow Him. Walking on water is supernatural. Walking without sinning requires the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 KJV). If God commands it, we can accomplish it. It’s time to rethink what God can do in us!
