Pushing a String

“You say, We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone. But what you have in mind will never happen” (Ezekiel 20:32 NIV). A friend of mine would often use the expression, pushing a string, when speaking of an impossibility. Ancient Israel was never intended by Yahweh to be anything but a Peculiar People and Treasure for the LORD (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 14:2; 26:18; Psalm 135:4). “For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto Himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth” (Deuteronomy 14:2 KJV). Almighty God never intended Israel to be replaced by the Church (Romans 11:1); however, “the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed” (Romans 9:8). Though Israel was politically resurrected from the dead in 1948, it will be spiritually given rebirth at the Second Coming of the Messiah. “Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children” (Isaiah 66:8). LORD, hasten the day when Your Church is Raptured Home to You that the events of Daniel’s Seventieth Week (Daniel 9:24-27) may unfold and Israel will be finally saved at Your Son’s triumphant return at Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Israel: Remnant Seed of the Woman (Revelation 12:16-17)

Israel as the remnant seed of the “woman” (Revelation 12:16) is singled out for satanic wrath, for many reject the worship of antichrist and will embrace the Messiah before the end of the Tribulation Week. “And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:16-17 KJV). Excitement bristles in the Unseen Realm as all eagerly anticipate how the Almighty will conclude the story, while keeping His promise to Abraham of blessing his descendants, as well as the Gentiles (Genesis 22:17-18). Even the earth miraculously helps the fleeing fugitives of Israel, who refuse the worship of the antichrist, and who now “have the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 12:17). Many speculate these flee to Petra, and pray the prayer, “Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?” (Psalm 60:9). Yahweh will “let none of his words fall to the ground” (1Samuel 3:19), as He secured for Samuel. National conversion awaits Israel (Isaiah 66:8), as her Messiah comes the second time. LORD, Your faithfulness astounds us in fulfilling all Your prophecies. May Israel be preserved and saved to their joy and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, we ask it. Amen.

Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5)

A scroll with seven seals is opened by the “Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, [He] hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” (Revelation 5:5 KJV). Messiah “shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and His rest shall be glorious” (Isaiah 11:10). The upcoming judgments of Daniel’s Seventy Weeks (Daniel 9:24) are the forewarned response from the angry Messiah (Psalm 2:12), whom neither the Jews nor Gentiles have fully embraced. LORD, may we fear You as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah rather than that roaring lion who seeks to devour us. Grant us the courage to stand before our enemies, knowing You have got our back. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Repurposing the Messiah

Jehovah gave His Messiah to Israel for the same reason He gave the Spirit of Christ to the New Covenant Church. “And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them” (Ezekiel 36:27 KJV). The intention of the LORD has always been to create a willing heart in His people. “Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power” (Psalm 110:3 KJV). It has always been about His children giving their heart to Yahweh. “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways” (Proverbs 23:26 KJV). It has not been simply to build a nation or church but to join Himself to His people. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 KJV).

Significance of Israel-Hamas Conflict (2023)

What is Israel’s importance, in light of the Israel-Hamas Conflict (2023)? Israel must somehow exist in the prophetic future. For Jehovah, Israel is the “apple of His eye” (Deuteronomy 32:10), not because they are stubborn, rebellious, or murdered His Son the Messiah; but simply because, He sovereignly chose them. Israel is the prophetic clock for gauging upcoming End Time events. Israel must continue to be a nation (1948) with a yet to be rebuilt Jerusalem Temple for Antichrist to desecrate with the “abomination of desolation” (Matthew 24:15 KJV). But, Israel will be converted from their rabid unbelief by the End of the Tribulation Week. Quite a miracle! “Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children” (Isaiah 66:8 KJV).

Concept of Delay

The concept of delay in spiritual warfare is more important in understanding Bible prophecy than it’s simple name would indicate. For whatever reason the Sovereign Lord deems appropriate, He may delay the return of the Messiah. Though delay puts off the ultimate defeat and subsequent judgment of Satan, the LORD gains by the additional opportunity for humanity to switch their allegiance to Yahweh. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2Peter 3:9 KJV).

Good News

Disciples must talk about bad news in order to bring up the good news of the gospel. The world does not always want to listen, and even fellow disciples may weary as well. “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11 KJV). Christian, your greatest advertisement for Christ is the blessed, happy life you live for the LORD, in the meantime. “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:14 KJV).

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee” (Psalm 122:6 KJV). What does the peace of Jerusalem to do with your peace? Jerusalem was chosen by God. “But I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name might be there” (2Chronicles 6:6 KJV). The LORD will judge Israel for their unrighteous rejection of His Messiah, but in Spiritual Warfare, the LORD of Hosts will judge those who lift their hand against His chosen city and bless those who pray for her peace.
