The Trouble With Genesis

The trouble with Genesis is, if you can’t take God at His word about the Beginning, then how can you trust Him about all the rest? “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6 KJV). If God did not create Adam from the dust, and specially created Eve from Adam’s side (Genesis 2), then the evolutionist’s isogamy becomes an acceptable path to human reproduction. “But from the beginning it was not so“ (Matthew 19:6 KJV).

The Physics of Aging

Evolution claims aging is a feature not a flaw, while some scientists counter, aging is consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. No one escapes dying regardless of wealth. “Nanoscale thermal physics guarantees our decline, no matter how many diseases we cure,” according to Dr. Peter Hoffmann, Director of Nanomechanics Laboratory, Wayne State University. “Aging itself can’t be a disease — diseases have causes, and are not universal. Aging is universal to all living things, and its only cause is time,” observes Hoffman. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27 KJV), saith the Creator.

God Is, Therefore I Am

God is, therefore I am. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them” (Genesis 1:27 KJV). With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), we are now discussing sentience (consciousness) and awareness like ancient philosophers defining reality. To be clear, the creature is not greater than the Creator; otherwise, Yahweh would cease to be all powerful. In no actual universe does less power trump all power. Our adversary specializes in frightening us with power that pales alongside the omnipotence of the LORD God. Just ask Elijah after the defeat of the prophets of Baal. The Almighty does not wake up in a cold sweat frightened of any adversary. “But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear Him” (Luke 12:5 KJV). By the way, Yahweh wins! “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever” (Revelation 20:10 KJV). Hallelujah!

Belief in Creation in 17th Century Thought

Belief in creation in 17th century thought fueled the rise of modern science. Christianity’s belief in an omnipotent, precise, and predictable Creator compelled Galileo, Newton, and Boyle. Instead of questioning if Christianity really motivated the rise of modern science, a better question would be, why just then did the Almighty allow it? “But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Psalm 75:7 KJV).

Was the Creation of Heaven and Earth a Miracle of God?

Was the Creation of Heaven and Earth a miracle of God? If a miracle defies Natural Law for explanation, then does Creation taking place in Six Literal Days defy the scientific explanation of evolution over a far greater epoch of time? If we accept the plain statement of Scripture in Genesis, then God created in Six Literal Days and rested on the Seventh. “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:11).

Women’s Role in the Church – Part 1

Women Teaching Men: 1Timothy 2:11-15

In the context of the public assembly of the church, Paul gave the direction, “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet” (1Timothy 2:12 NIV), he had just prefaced his remark a verse earlier. “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission” (2:11 NIV).

A Young Earth Creationist’s Speculative Use of Einstein’s Gravitational Theory of General Relativity (GR)

First, at the beginning of the creation of a material universe (“heavens and earth”) in Genesis 1:1, God possibly used the mechanism of a black hole to hold in all matter in a singularity with the greatest force of gravity to cause biblical time to measure in terms of earth centric 24 hour days.

“Starlight and Time”: An Amazon Book Review

Why Would a Young Earth Creationist Promote a Better Appreciation of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity (GR)?

The actual review is at the end of this article, which I precede with some explanatory remarks.

I survived my college introductory course in calculus, but I had the practical sense to later be steered toward the humanities and social sciences. I furnished too little inspiration and understanding to fully appreciate the rigors of dy, dx. My acceptance of the Genesis account of creation meant I had to reconcile six literal days of creation with the fact that light from Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system to earth, would take 4.35 light years to arrive to earth. If God really “made the stars” (Genesis 1:16 NIV) on the fourth literal day of creation, how could Alpha Centauri be visible from earth so soon? I reasoned, if Adam was created with the mature form of an adult, then God could produce a universe with the mature appearance of light from the stars. I can now better understand an astronomer’s disdain for my reasoning.

Masterpiece: Miracle of Creation

If creation is the act of producing or causing to exist, and a miracle is an effect or event considered as a work of God, then Creation is a miracle. Creation is the Masterpiece of God. When a magician pulls a rabbit out of a hat (6:36), the audience responds with enthusiastic applause. But, when God creates the universe ex nihilo — out of nothing — the applause stops, and both scientist and theologian begin a forensic discussion of how God did not do it, how Genesis was never intended to be but a figurative story, or how God needed more time and process to accomplish such a feat.
