Just as canaries warned of dangerous levels of carbon monoxide gas in coal mines, antisemitism on American college campuses in support of Hamas and condemning Israel in the wake of the 2023 attacks against Israel from Gaza predict a future hatred for Christianity. Jews were initially targeted in Nazi Germany, but next Christians such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer were silenced, too. “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:3 KJV).

Son of Hamas
“Son of Hamas” (2010) is the story of Mossab Hassan Yousef, son of a founding leader of Hamas. Mossab experienced his father’s humanity, witnessed Hamas’ duplicity torturing its own in Israeli prisons, was recruited as a spy for the Israeli Shin Bet for about ten years, then was converted to Christ. He wrote, “As long as we continue to search for enemies anywhere but inside ourselves, there will always be a Middle East problem.” “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2Corinthians 5:17 KJV).
The Beginning of Knowledge
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7 KJV). Fear is a good thing, when it keeps us from doing something contrary to our wellbeing. Jesus gave friendly advice. “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28 KJV). The first truth of knowledge is fear God. That is wisdom and instruction. Amen.
Can We Do Better?
We can absolutely do better, or we cannot grow. “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10 KJV). Until we stand in the presence of our Lord, we will be constrained by the limitations of our earthly circumstances. We will ache, become weary, mishear, misunderstand, and even miss our intended target. We certainly need a supernatural, good shepherd. LORD, lead us in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Amen and amen.
Choicest Fruit of Wisdom
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7 KJV). Pilots are required to stay current with their flying because piloting an aircraft is a perishable skill. Old age destroys the connections of our memory. Wisdom is ingrained in our understanding. Unlike even the muscle memory of repetitive actions, wisdom is more deeply encoded in our understanding of reality. “If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy” (Psalm 137:6 KJV). May our understanding of the Almighty be our wisdom.
The Physics of Aging
Evolution claims aging is a feature not a flaw, while some scientists counter, aging is consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. No one escapes dying regardless of wealth. “Nanoscale thermal physics guarantees our decline, no matter how many diseases we cure,” according to Dr. Peter Hoffmann, Director of Nanomechanics Laboratory, Wayne State University. “Aging itself can’t be a disease — diseases have causes, and are not universal. Aging is universal to all living things, and its only cause is time,” observes Hoffman. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27 KJV), saith the Creator.

Hezekiah encouraged his people against the massive onslaught of Sennacherib. Good advice for overcoming our own overwhelming circumstances. “Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah” (2Chronicles 32:7-8 KJV).
People That Delight In War
“People that delight in war” (Psalm 68:30 KJV), JAH opposes, for they lust, fight, war, and have not because they ask not. Neither do they defend the needy, nor do they deliver the helpless.
Enemy Shall Come In Like A Flood
“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19 KJV). This is a promise of the LORD’s clear, unrelenting, and overpowering response to any action of the enemy, which is presently or about to inundate us; but, on the sole condition, we cry out to Yahweh with absolute certainty that He alone can and will prevent or neutralize the opposition to our advantage.
Insanity of Evil
The moral insanity of the unconverted heart is well documented in Scripture. “This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead” (Ecclesiastes 9:3 KJV). Like Saul of Tarsus raging against Christianity, only a supernatural encounter with the Resurrected Christ can change them. LORD, raise up your Spirit filled deacon Stephens and Ananiases to direct their Sauls to You. Amen.
