Just One More

Desmond Doss, hero of Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge” (2016) won the Medal of Honor as a US Army medic during WW2 for saving lives. Desmond continually prayed to rescue just “one more” until he rescued 71 soldiers, while under enemy fire. Remember, Jesus “gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age according to the will of our God and Father” (Galatians 1:4 NET). The Father alone knows when it is time for His Son to return. It’s not over until God says it’s over. No one but the Father knows the day or hour. LORD Jesus, come quickly; but, in the meantime, help us, also to rescue just one more. Amen.

Confusion to the Enemy

“Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city” (Psalm 55:9 NIV). Whenever someone is confused, they are confounded in their attempt to accomplish their goals. Likewise, David prayed for the Lord to confuse his enemies, as should we. Elisha prayed for blindness upon the Syrian army, who came to capture him. “And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And He smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha” (2Kings 6:18 KJV). LORD, teach us to wage war victoriously in our Spiritual Warfare. Amen.

Sexual Purity Comes From Higher Purpose

Sexual purity comes from higher purpose from the LORD, not from simply refusing to give in. Christ-centered motivation overpowers the strongest sexual desire. “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments” (Psalm 119:9-10 KJV). Let the Spirit of God guide your affections to a higher purpose rather than simply resolving in your own strength not to give in. “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2 KJV). Human will power alone is a poor substitute for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to keep you pure. Remember, God’s Word and promises “effectually worketh also in you that believe” (1Thessalonians 2:13 KJV), that is, it works in those who believe.

Search Me, O God

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24 KJV). LORD, what is it in me that must change for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven? Let me not look upon others seeing them as the impediment causing the world’s problems. Change me, and I will be changed. Form me, and I will be formed. Then lead me in the way everlasting. Amen.

God Moments

We “can do all things through Christ” (Philippians 4:13 KJV); but especially, when we have to do the seeming impossible, while we’re trying to do the right thing. The Israelites were called to exit Egypt only to be cornered by Pharaoh’s chariots at the Red Sea, but God delivered them. Abraham was promised offspring through Isaac, whom God now required to kill and sacrifice, until Jehovah was satisfied with Abraham’s faith. Then, a nearby ram was caught and substituted. God will do the same for you in your moment of need, because “with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26 KJV). Don’t be surprised by a miracle!

Enigma of Peace

As much as Christians may support the existence of a nation state of Israel, it is difficult to envision a time where Palestinians and Israelis would be at peace. Yet, the prophet Ezekiel speaks of a future time when Gog, who is Russia, and her allies will come against Israel, which will be a nation dwelling “safely” (Ezekiel 38:11 KJV). But, safety comes only after the one who turns out to be the Antichrist comes to Israel’s aid to “confirm the covenant with many for one week” (Daniel 9:27 KJV). Peace with the Palestinians will be a justifiable part of the attraction for the Israelis, but Antichrist’s true motive will be seeking all to worship him as God — in the middle of the Tribulation Week (Daniel 9:27, Mark 13:14). “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God” (2Thessalonians 2:4 KJV). Prophecy is being played out like a cosmic chess match.

My Redeemer Liveth

Jōb repeated more about Bible prophecy and End Times in a passing soliloquy than many a church member has carefully studied. “For I know that my redeemer [God is our salvation] liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day [Prophecy of End Times] upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God [Bodily Resurrection]: Whom I shall see for myself [Second Coming of Jesus Christ], and mine eyes shall behold [Face To Face With Yahweh], and not another” (Job 19:25-27 KJV). This is the oldest book of the Bible, repeated under monumental stress, before there was even a written canon of Scripture. Humbling! May we aspire to testify as much with our lives!

Ordinary People

“When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and discovered that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13 NET). Despise not the day of small things for the LORD takes note of you. Your life is a testimony of Him and speaks loudly of His wisdom and power in making you able to live life the way He intended. We need not compare our lives with others, for it would be proud and unwise. Instead, we need to resolutely gaze upon “Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2 KJV), for He is our prize. Hallelujah!

You Are Here

Whenever we are confused and lost about anything, the Spirit of God is able to drop a spiritual map into our understanding to direct us. “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21 KJV). The moral clarity of God in directing His people is so unmistakable, even without physical or tangible contact with others, He is able to direct us. “I being in [or, on] the way, the LORD led me” (Genesis 24:27 KJV).

Learning Righteousness From God’s Judgments

What possible hope is there in God’s judgments? The answer is to learn righteousness. “When Thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness” (Isaiah 26:9 KJV). But, do we need apocalyptic judgments to finally learn righteousness? Listen to the Apostle Paul. “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world” (1Corinthians 11:31-32 KJV). Self-judgment and confession are key to the Spirit of God giving us victory in Spiritual Warfare.
