Nothing Done for Christ Will Be Lost

“And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward” (Matthew 10:42 KJV).

Do not allow yourself to be lulled to sleep thinking you are not in the midst of a great accomplishment for Christ; and so, you are of little value to Him.

Perish that thought!

We have no right to conduct ourselves like we have the luxury to ease ourselves with the good times we deserve. That’s what the rich fool told himself before the Almighty judged him!

“And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” (Luke 12:19-20 KJV).

Why did Jesus make His comment about rewarding the giving of a cup of cold water to a little one in the name of a disciple?

Because it was an insignificant thing then and now.

Which means, our Heavenly Father notices and rewards — everything!

We have a tendency to bring the Eternal God down to our level and treat Him as if he were as small and insignificant as ourselves.

“Is any thing too hard for the LORD?” (Genesis 18:14 KJV).

Think of it. The Invisible, Almighty, Unchanging, Eternal God can accomplish anything.

He will reward us for everything we have done, just as He will punish the wicked for everything they have done.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2Corinthians 5:10 KJV).

This may seem impossibly long for anyone to pass that kind of judgment, but the Judge of All the Earth can.

Take heart that the smallest thing done for Christ will not be lost!

Lord, keep us in Your Love, even in the smallest, quietest moments.

Prevent the little foxes from spoiling the grapes (Song of Solomon 2:15).

Amen and amen.
